I just saw this soldering tool on TV called “Coldheat”.  Wondering if anyone has used it and what they though of it.  My daughters ask to learn how to solder, and I think this would be a great tool for her.  If it works that is : )  http://www.coldheat.com/

Discussed many times on various forums.
Break Down
1. The unit will only solder very small guages of wire.
2. The unit can not be used on board levle electronics due to ESD.
3. The fit and finish of this unit is cheap, dont expect it to last.
4. If you are even remotely serious about having a cordless soldering iron, by a Weller / Snap On.
Regards

I hate my Snap On butane POS fails to ignite soldering iron. When it works I love it. Snap On guy needs to warranty it for me.

Not sure if other soldering products come with similar warnings, never really looked. But the cold heat one comes with a sticker on it that says:
"Warning: This product, when used for soldering and similar applications, produces chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects (or other reproductive harm).
(California Health & Safety Code 25249.5 et seq.)"

I need to get a soldering unit tool. Anyone know what brand or type is the best that comes with a kit? I thought about stopping by HomeDepot or a Hardware Store, But thought i check in with you guys. I'll need a solder that will be able to do all jobs, from small compact electric wires, to 0 /1 gauge. My computer needs soldering so the micro chips and wires that are on it are very small. Thanks agin!

Knowledge is power. But only if you apply that knowledge in a positive way, which promotes positive results in others.
