Yes lead is poisonous. Solder is 40 percent lead in most cases. The rosin flux is pretty much harmless unless you're inhaling it directly.

Solder is bad for this reason, but it sure does the job! The industry is supposed to be comming out with something new. When that happens....think of all the lead in your electonics products and installations! Ode to lead solder!

I was soldering today and my co-worker offered me some cookies, I ate a few with my lead tainted hands....I'm gonna DIE!!!!

Seriously, avoid ingestion....don't eat the solder or even chew on it. Don't let young children play with it or leave it for pets to chew on.

Always clean your hands when you are done soldering. Don't eat and solder.

Lead will vaporize at 1000 degrees F, nothing to worry about, continue with your soldering.
