I know this topic has been posted before.  If not here it is:   I'm looking into a JL 10w6 or w7.  I'm thinking of porting the box.  If I have my sub firing into the cabin (through my armrest that folds down) should the port for the box go into the cabin also?  or can it be into the trunk.  If it's in the cabin how much space needs to be between the sub and port/vent (or does it matter as long as it's not ontop of it)?  I've heard and seen them (at least from what I can remember) that both are in the same direction.  Thanks.

Im asuming this is in a car with a trunk. Anyway , just my experience.......I had a 2000 Grand Prix GTP. In the trunk we experimented all day with the same set up your asking about. We had 2 - JL 12"w6 in a ported box. It was a prefab box but was supposedly designed for these subs. We turned it every direction we could but in the end the best set up for maximum bass was to have both subs and port holes facing the rear of the car towards the tail lights. With the trunk lid closed , The bass volume was at least twice as loud this direction as any other we tried. Yours may have different results but it also depends on the type of car you have . Good Luck

typically the best sound comes from facing the subs towards the rear, give the bass a deeper feel.   There was an article on here somewhere about facing subs

Yeah, Jeff, this was interesting reading.  http://www.installer.com/tech/aiming.html
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
