I am working on fiberglassing my first subwoofer box,
I got "Bondo - Glass", is that good stuff for fiberglassing? from pictures I saw stuff should look sort of clear brown, and "Bondo - Glass" is green.
Sorry I am a newbie so i need some answers

just looked closer to "Bondo - Glass" and it looks green and pretty thick. can someone please let me know what stuff should I use to make a box, I already have the trunk taped in masking tape, and now I am stuck with resin that buddy bought for me, and I don't think thats the right stuff.

Thanks

~Dan

Not the right stuff, to start resining it. Bondo does make a resin, you need fiberglass resin most likely polyester. If i remeber correctly the bondo glass is just bondo with some fiberglass fibers in it. It can be used to build up shape quickly but if this is for a sub box you should build with fabric or mat rather than bondo.

You will want the fiberglass mat, nothing mixed with bondo. Bondo is basically just to get shape. Also like s7726 said, you should make sure its polyester resin. If you are going to be using fleece, make sure it is polyester aswell.

i am a newbie to this sight ,but, i do know working on customizing vehicles.   the bondo glass is alright to make your enclosure if it is formed over a frame of cardboard or cloth and it will be messy to begin with .( wear gloves)   the liquid found in the can is on top of the green mess is resin , so be sure to mix it in .   when you mix in one teaspoon of bondo hardener (usually reddish or blue ) to one cup of the glass mixture , it will change color and you will have less than 15 minutes to use up that mixture before curing begins .    Try one cup at a time until yopu are familiar with the process .    photos of a recent porshe in a car show are available by email to you and the bondo glass is fine for your project .      i'm in the same boat as you with carbon fiber formatting , but, custom orders are already being requested , so try and try again until it works .

Do not build your entire box out of bondo, rage gold, bondo-glass, kittyhair, or any other type of filler. These are for finishing the box not for building it.

Amen, auex. Body filler is for finishing only. Not for structural work.
