I plan on getting a 1000 watt RMS amp and I will also have a 200 watt RMS amp to go in my car. Will I need a bigger alternator, yellow top battery, cap, or a combonation of any of the three with this much power? What do you think would happen to my car if I didn't get any? Please hel

what is the amperage on each amp, wattage means nothing...it does but alot of amps are overrated,   look on the fuse on each amp and post that along with the vehicle that this is going into

The smaller amp has a 15? fuse, is thats what you mean. I don't know what the bigger one will have. I'm thinking of getting a Lanzar 2 channel 1000 watt rms amp. My car is a 2004 KIA Spectra GSX.

are these subs eclipse alumunims?    if so I really would not recommend running a lanzar amp on them, most lanzar products are overrated, have a high distortion ect ect..i good way to take good subs and destroy/make them sound bad.   The lanzar optidrive is good but expensive.    I would look on this site in the buy/sell area for an amp better suited for your needs,   I am running my aluminums right now with one memphis hc50.   I was running one per sub but sole one,     with the 2 amps at 400rms per sub we were hitting 144.7 db on the term lab...I would imagine we are closer to 140 now   these are great amps and draw about 50 amps of current      with an amp like this and your 4 channel you wouldnt need to up your alternator, the lanzar would more realistically have about 30-40 amps of draw

I have to echo Jeff here, find a decent amplifier for those very nice subs. Lanzar is not a decent amplifier. You'd do better to use a 500w decent amp over the "1000w" distorted lanzar if price is the issue.

If your looking for a cheep good amp look into JBL 1200.1 ( i think thats it)

And yeah, , you will prolly need a bigger alt, ,but i really really really doubt you'll find one for your Kia.  You will probably have to get yours rebuilt.

I agree with the others..get a good amp for those subs. Like Alpine guy said..a good cheap amp would be the JBL 1200.1 and you can get that off www.sounddomain.com for like $200+ shipping. Also look into the DEI 1100D on www.ikesound.com ...$227.95 shipped(that's probably my next amp).

im need help understanding this. i read up above its not about the wattage, its about amperage. so the amperage is what tells you how powerful an amp is. i have two 1000 watt amps with two 40 amp fuses a piece. i have one more 400 watt amp wit a 30 amp fuse. i currently disconnected my system becus i put my car in the paint shop but when i had my system hooked up for a couple of hours jus to see how it sounded, my lights did dim. one of my homeboys told me i need a cap, like 3.5 farad. ive been reading its not about the cap though its the alternator.  what should i do before i hook my system back up. what size fuse do i need in my 4 guage wire kit. do i need another alt. if so what amperage. do i need another battery. help me wit some info..

Apparently, price is a factor  with your choice in amplifiers, so I'm going to have to agree with the others and say steer clear from the Lanzar. If you are worried about needing a larger alternator, dont. Just go with a efficient class D sub amp like the JBL the others recommended or even the Interfire1000D. Car Audio and Electronics magazine, just did a review on one of their other amps, and had good things to say, plus they are not very expensive at all, and their currant draw at full power wont require you to get a bigger alternator, although you can never go wrong with a capacitor. Other amps at a low price, good efficiency, good power, would be the new Sony P5 (it says 1600 watts, but at 900 actual watts, you cant go wrong) again the JBL1200.1, even the Hifonics brutus amplifiers are worth looking at.(class D of course) Good Luck
