how do you remove the pillars i have been pulling at them but im afraid of breaking them whats the trick?

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE PILLARS BETWEEN THE FRONT AND BACK DOORS AND THE ONES INFRONT OF THE FRONT DOORS ON A 2001 SUBURBAN
