Need help installing remote starter on 97 BMW M3.

Your tach wire voltage should read between 1-6 volts. Check for a black wire at the diagnostic plug.Sound Pressure

Make sure that the DMM is on AC when you do this test for the tach wire Jeff

The car is a 1997 M3 automatic. I started tapping wires last night and I am almost done. The problem that I am having now is that the car will not try to crank. I probed the starter wire output from the remote start and it sends a 12v signal to the starter wire, but the car will not even try to turn over. My remote starter is a Rev model and it says that it has a automatic tach sensing module inside of it and I don't have to hook up the tach wire. But it does come with a wire that can be hooked up to the tach if the car will not start. The problem with this method is that the tach wire in the car is 7v + and the wire coming off of the remote module is a negative sensor. The instructions say to hook this tach wire to the negative wire at the coil. I don't know what that wire is.I notice at the back of the key tumbler that a blue/white stripe wire has a connection to the 12v battery when the key has not been turned, but when you turn the key the blue/white stripe wire goes to ground. So I setup a relay to send a ground signal to the blue/white wire, but it that doesn't seem to help. The radio and gauges and fan will come on, but the car doesn't want to start. I don't know why this is. Does it have to do with anything regarding the factory alarm wires? I pulled the factory alarm out and put in my Alpine in its place.

This vehicle is equiped with the EWS II immobilizer system that need to be bypassed when adding a remote start. The factory alarm is an Alpine unit anyways, but you still need to bypass the tranponder chip with a module and a spare key. When you meter the tach wire you have to be in AC not DC. The amount that was registering on the meter that you had is not correct and the connection to the tach wire on the BMW should have been a BLACK wire at the instument cluster.The wire is located in a white connector behind the instrument cluster. Do not unplug the white connector with the ignition on or turn the ignition on with the plug disconnected. Jeff

Will the DEI 555B module work?  I don't understand why the extra key is needed.  I don't have a chip on it and where will I put the key?
