Alright, easy question for you smart guys out there why does Alpine, put duraglas and rage gold on their boxes?

Could you not just use duraglas and spot putty?

And last one if you've the post a couple of threads down, listed as "cutting excess glass"  will the duraglas be strong enough to hold it or should I use more glass on the inside?

Easy questions guys for you at least I just need a couple of answers, and by the way all the help you guys give is greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance,    Realitycheck

I don't want to appear to be speaking for Steve Brown but...
Duraglass is very thick and a little difficult to spread as compared to Rage Gold. RG is a lot easier to work with and has better coverage than a spot filler. Glaze (icing, spot filler/putty, etc.) is very thin and covers pinholes well but is too thin to cover the large voids that can be left by Duraglass (or any fiber reinforced filler).

Now if someone could just answer my last question!

if you've read the post a couple of threads down, listed as "cutting excess glass"  will the duraglas be strong enough to hold it or should I use more glass on the inside?

what picture do you mean?     I dont have a pic here im at work, the pics are on my dig cam at home.

If you mean a pic of the fleece on the edge it is still hanging over at least 1/4 of an inch in some places the rest is about 1inch to an 1 1/2 inch, so I dont know what to do!

I'm talking about putting the duraglas on the inside, but now im thinking about just putting two layers of glass on it and stuffing into the corners real good!

I appreciate the help though caraudio!

Yes, you mentioned that on October 27 when I first asked for a picture. That's nine days to get them off the camera and onto the web. I can't give you good advice without seeing what you mean. What you're trying to describe and what I'm picturing could be two very different things.

NO!!! Use fiberglass and resin and fill the gap on the inside just like how you built it in the first place.
