I walked in to the local memphis audio dealer today, and on the shelf were two subwoofers with pot leaves on the cones. They are  from a company known as chronic audio, they make several lines of subs including a 15" 4000w sub, Anyone hear of these? They have a website WWW.CHRONICAUDIO.COM. They looked cool but I still bought the memphis subs.

I know a little about Chronic Audio, I am an ex-shop owner.  I have met the owner many years ago as he was a representative of a few lines in the industry.  I still keep in touch with the owner and expressed my opinion about the leaf logo.  My opinion put a sticker in the box or something not every one wants to open there trunk and flash the green or you might have a hard time convincing mom the subs are really great subs.  Anyway,  he took my advice and the VALUE SERIES no longer has the "LEAF" logo.  His take on the theme of the line is simple, he wanted to grab some attention and he did.  Put the leaf logo aside and read his mission statement for this line.  When you get a chance, go listen to these speakers, pick one up and take a close look at it and compare it to others.

VALUE SERIES - Have not heard them but was told that they don't break, very good product for entry level speaker.   Ask your dealer to play them.

PROFESSIONAL - Your getting into a very good product becuase this is a US Manufactured sub that had designed many other fine speakers over the past 50 years. (YES, they were rockin hard back then.)  If you want to drive a pair of subs with a 400-500 watt 4ohm mono load on a pair of dual voice coils these are great becuase you don't have the expense of larger amps, wire, caps, etc...

COMP - This is my favorite line because of the upgraded motor structure. (Tinsel leads are woven into spider so they won't snap like other speakers)  If you are realy into banging and I mean banging these subs are designed to stay smooth and handle plenty of power.  VERY VERY NICE

SPL - I will tell you one thing this is a true winner for SPL period.  This product is the creme of the crop(no pun intended).  Non other compares as I have carried all Hi-End manufactures products and the owner has spared no mercy wtih this sub.  I dare you to compare this sub side by side to any other sub available and I mean that.

I have never heard of them and probably for good reason (lol). Glad you went with the memphis subs, they are great and won't let you down!
"I don't play games. I play Nakamichi and that for real yo" - Probably some japanese kid said this in the early 80's trying to sell stereo out of his trunk lol.

I just checked out the site. Those are some pretty high prices on those SPL subs. Did I read correctly that they have QUAD 2 ohm coils? These could only be wired in series for most amps right?

After going to get a new memphis amp for my new subs I thaught I would hear the chronic audio subs since they are so arguable. The guy walked me out to the parking lot to a hatchback car with a giant weed leaf on the back of it and inside were four fifteen inch subs. they were right behind the driver and ported between the two front seats. after talkinfg for a while he turned on the subs to a snoop dogg song and DAMMN!!! I heard car alarms go off for two blocks around us, the subs were so loud that they hurt my chest even standing three feet from the car and I had to stand back even further away. I would say they have some damn good excursion to. I might have to look into some of these subs in the future.

Sorry, but any company that relies on a gimick like "chronic" can go f**k themselves.
