I'm going to build a custom fiberglass box for at least one sub in my trunk. I want at least one 12, but i have been considering getting a 10 and a 12 and building the box to acomodate both (with separate chambers) not only for the visual apeal of the two woofers but also to gain the different response curves from the subs.

Can I run the two subs off one mono amp (if wired correctly). Or would it be best to run them off separate amps so they can be adjusted indevidually. I'm looking at the JL W3v2's.

Thanks

Gavin

running 2 diffrent size subs requires vast knoledge to avoid cancleation, I would highly recommend not doing it.   And espically ctay away from the same amp, this will keep you from adjusting frequencys seperatly and thus cause more problems.    All in All I try to get people to stay away from this.    I have heard I want to low bass from a 15 but the tight sound from a 10,   well you will get neither.   Go with a High quality 12 or 10 and you can easily achieve both

Yup.

Im not sure why you are considering this, if its money-just wait till you have enough for the 12's.

I agree with Jeff...Maybe you should look into one of these:

12" Adire Brahma

12" RE XXX

12" Alpine Type X

12" Sony Xplode..Just kidding, but seriously I would suggest lookin into one of those if i were you.

I agree with Jeff. Generally you only want the same drivers playing the same frequency range. The only way I've heard this work OK is if the 15" plays the ultra low frequencies 20-50hz or something, and the 10" plays higher low frequencies, like 50-80hz.
However, like Jeff said, this can create so many problems that it has a high potential to sound like crap.
Get one quality 12" like the Adire or RE, feed it enough power, and it will kick the crap out of the 12+10 idea in every category you can think of.

Do people not read previous post on here?  There are atleast 2 dozen topics about this.  Not hatin' but atleast do some research.  A 12 and a 10 (unless you have really good equipment and experience) will sound like crap.  Go with one sealed 12 or a ported 10.  Just my $.02

Now I'm going to say it b/c I'm a fan, but I know someone will say some thing.  JL makes a good sub too.  A little on the expensive side but a good quality sub.
