I have an '05 Escalade, and althought the remotes properly operate the door locks, they do not recall the driver's settings.  Each of the remotes has a number engraved on it, but neither one causes the seat, mirror or pedal positions to change.  The hard wired buttons on the driver's door do work, but the settings don't change when the remotes are used.   Any help would be appreciated.

OK,you have a 2005 Escalade. GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP!!!!
Also user settings are initiated with the key not the remotes.

Of course I could go back to the dealer, but how much fun is that?!  ;)  I'd like to know how to solve this without a trip to the dealer, if possible.

Also, how are user settings initiated with the key if the keys are all identical?  And why would the remotes be identified with a "1" and a "2"?   Anyway, it makes more sense (to me, anyway)  that the remote is what distinguishes one driver from another, so that the seats are in the proper position even before the driver gets into the car.  (Not that "making sense" necessarily has anything to do with it!)

Thanks for the reply,

-Michael

You have to go into programming through your DIC (driver information center) and turn ON Driver identification.
Read your owners manual, it's in there.

The key transmits different codes. Turn the car on with both keys, look at the instrument cluster it will tell you which key is being used.

I have read my manual, and gone through every screen on the DIC, but can't find anything labeled "Driver Identification."  I have also looked at the cluster for a sign as to which key is being used, but no luck.  Perhaps something was changed for '05?  ...or maybe I'll have to take it to the dealer after all...?

Here's an update for anyone interested:  I took the car to the dealer, and they couldn't figure out how to fix the problem!   They suggested I bring it back to them when I could leave the car for a while.   I will post the eventual outcome...if there ever is one!

any of them i have worked on with Drivers Personalization features you simply set everything how you want it in the car and then press and hold the memory seat button # 1 or 2 ( corresponding to remote 1 or 2 ) until you hear 2 beeps...then these features are programmed to the relative driver (1 or 2)

The memory recall feature functions properly from the switch on the door, but not when the remotes are used.

it should.... as this is how you program the "personalization" features-not just seat memory, but all features... they will probably just replace the remotes and reprogram all.....thats assuming you do have this feature turned on ( Remote Personalization)

as auex said, if it's under warranty.. let the dealer "deal" with it......
