I have just recently hooked up a 5in TV with a PS2 as a DVD player. Now I ran the PS2 from a power inverter which is under the passenger seat. I drive a Mustang GT (manual), and everytime I accelerate and shift, the higher the RPMs the louder the noise gets! I got rid of the problem a little bit by putting electrical tape over the RCA connections, but now it get a little buzz!!!! So if anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

  • Make sure that you have your power and RCA run on opposite sides of the car
  • make sure that you have an ABSOLUTE GROUND for the entire video system and power converter
  • Another thing to check is to ensure that your power and ignition power is suitable for the system. Run straight from the battery for your constant and straight from the ignition harness for the switched ignition.
  • POST YOUR RESULTS

Also, I have found that the audio output of the PS2 is REALLY low.. Two things that I have done in the past for a solution is this:

1:  A line driver.. Companys such as SoundGate and I think PAC has one have these for this problem.. The output is so low and you are having to turn the volume up louder than normal.  Have you noticed a difference in the level from Radio/CD to the DVD player.  Call Soundgate or just look for a line level driver.

2:  Ever faithful SNI-1 noise filter.  If you are using a Audiovox FM Modulator, this iwll take care of most alternator noise..

More than likely, go with the line driver and you shouldn't have a problem with it..

If you need, email me and I'll look up the part number for you.  I can't remember right off hand..

You could also try a ground loop isolator on the RCAs from the Playstation--that might do the trick.

Thank you all for the input! I have put them all into concideration. My answer to you SnoMan is yes, I really have noticed how low the PS2 audio is compared to the radio. The radio gets really loud around 1/4 the way, and when I have the PS2 running, its almost all the way up! Well if I have any other questions, they will be posted here! You all gave me good suggestions that I hope, or will, help.
