i have a pioneer 6400, im using a boss audio dvd player.so my video in is being used already.now i want to install a backup camera. i cant just put a Y connector for the 2 rcas into one can i ? wont it screw something up if both video sources are on at the same time? im guessing i need a video switcher but the few ive seen have buttons on them to switch sources. i know my headunit will automatically go to the camera ,but will the switcher?

No, you shouldn't use y connectors to do this. You can build an auto switcher out of relays for this though. This would also mean that you are bypassing any built in safety features that the unit has.
