Okay, so I don't have much money to spend on car audio right now, but I want (a) subwoofer(s). On Ebay, 12" Diamond CM3s are about $90, while Infinity Reference 12"s are only about $40. I'm looking for both SQ and decent volume, though I don't need window shattering, competition winning power. I have a dual chambered sealed box with about 1.7cuft per chamber that I used to have some Audiobahn subs in. I sold those but I custom built the box for my Intrepid and my friend who bought the subs has a Cavalier so it wouldn't fit so I still have it. Anyway, what do you guys recommend? Or if you know something better for around the same price, please let me know. I don't have an amp either - I will be selecting one after I've selected my drivers so as to figure out what stable load it needs to handle. (Note: if I do go for one good sub now, I may go for a second later on.)

TIA

Go for the Diamond, it will do you well. I have had bad luck with infinity's and i wouldn't recommend them to anyone, except their tweeters and some of their components. Another sub to look for is the JBL GT1241 if you can find it. Its a good sub for around that price. good luck

I love my Infinity!  Highly recomend them.  Not a big Reference fan but they are good for some minor bass.  I love the Kappa and Kappa Perfect.  I've got one Kappa and getting another.  Don't know too much about the Diamond.  uthink's got a good idea as far as JBL.  They make good subs (I like infinity better but JBL isn't bad).

The problem i have had with infinity subs is that they don't really hold their power well and maintain sound quality. They kind of get distorted when you get to the upper end of their RMS. I have never had a problem with JBL, so i strongly recommend them. I actually got a set of them hooked up in my room. I attached a picture! Take a look.1 Diamond CM3 vs. 2 Infinty Ref subs -- posted image.
