Remote Start in Taurus... Need a hint!

Howdy,

I am putting my Crimestopper RS-795 into my 99 Taurus. It was previously installed in my 92 E-150.  Using the factory Install sheets, I did a basic install with tach wire sender and parking lights until it get it working correctly.  I left off all the toys (door locks, etc) until I get it running correctly.  Here is my problem:

1.) pushing the button on the remote activates Ign1 and Ign2 & parking lights BUT doesn't engage the starter.

2.) After some diagnostic work I determined that the brown wire that goes straight from the brain's circuit board to the starter engage wire wasn't activating. 

3.) I opened the brain and found that I could manually push the internal relay into the "engage" position and make the starter spin.  When I did this in conjunction with pushing the remote, it started and ran for approx 4 seconds.  I triple checked all comnnections, but am seriously stumped.

FYI, all tests were performed with key in the ignition b/c I didnt want to dig into my PATS workaround until I had the starter working correctly.

Bsically, everything works,except that the brown wire (starter) isnt getting any juice. Here is the wiring diagram: http://www.crimestopper.com/reference/rs795v.html

You didn't connect the wait to start wire to anything or the hood pin to anything?  I know if the hood pin wire is grounded it wont start.  I can't really think of anything except maybe the remote starter is broken itself?

In my attempt to minimize the number of variables, I purposefully didnt install the hood pin switch yet.  The wire of that is taped off until I get the larger probem sorted out.   The brake switch is installed and is functioning correctly.  

Other wires that are connected are the starter lead, Ign1, Ign2, and parking lights.

Any other thoughts?

I'll double check the tach wire.  I picked it up at the PCM connector.  Unit was previously installed in a vehicle with automatic transmission.  All of the wires that were used in the previous install are currently hooked up.

Did you program the tach???  Ummm, how long ago was it taken out of the previous car?  Was it working then??
