Hi,

Son has Pioneer TS-W303F to install in his (Australian made) Holden VL sedan ie 1987model. He has a pair of Pionerr 6x9 s already in the deck and there is a good deal of "leakage" into the boot.

What wold you suggest as the best method of installation, bearing in mind the subs are 'Freeair' speakers? Would you recommend putting it in an enclosure??

Even if they are free air subs, you still want to prevent the back and front waves of the woofers from seeing each other. If you can't seal the boot (trunk for us Americans ;)) to prevent this, then an enclosure will be your best bet. I'm not familiar with the vehicle, but the enclosure examples in this section https://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxes1.asp should help give you an idea of what you may be able to do in it.

Also, if you decide to mount the subs on the deck, then you seriously want to buy some baffles/boxes for the 6x9s. Otherwise, they'll be blown quickly.

What is normal anyway???
