depends on what you are considering a nice sounding system. i have a pretty decent sq system in my truck, but loud is not one of the things that you will get in a truck, at least bass wise. i tried throwing my friends 2 12" eclipse titaniums in my truck running off his amps, and i still had wally world sound levels(sounded really good though) if you want spl throw some subs in the bed in a ported box.   if you want sq on top of that, throw some 8" or 10" woofers in the cab. for the mids and highs, you have to bite the bullet and not use your ebrake and get kick panels. the stock speaker locationsare in the worst spots. other than that, wiring wise its cake and you probably will be able to keep your stock alternator
