Hi,
My wife happened to push the factory p-lock button inmy car at the same time I used the remote to lock thedoors. Something must have popped and I could smell aburning smell. All functions of the remote starter(Bulldog rs-102E) still work except it will no longer lock thedoors, it will still unlock them however. The doorsstill lock/unlock by the factory p-lock button. The system has been working fine for about a yearuntil this happened.
The car is an 89 Buick Lesabre with TYPE A locks. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it has how did they fix it. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Matt

You're right kgerry. It looks like the "door lock output" from the unit no longer provides any output. Everything else on the module still works, including the "door unlock output". I opened it up and saw no burn marks whatsoever. There appears to be only one relay inside, I'm guessing it's for the parking lights.
I sent it to Bulldog Security for repair. They've been very good with repairing stuff with no questions asked. When I get it back is there anyway I can wire it so this doesn't happen again. As you might know, with type A locks you wire the module directly to the car's door lock wiring without external relays.
Thanks.

diode isolate the lock/unlock wires... this will prevent anything from coming back and blowing the DRL outputs....  or use a DRL relay module just to be safe

Thanks for the advice. I'll try using the diodes. Just wondering where I should buy the diodes? RadioShack? Also, what type and value of diode should I buy?
Thanks,
Matt

any 1 amp rectifier should work,  1N4001 etc.

the dual relay socket and relays or a doorlock module will only cost you 10-15 bucks you know.... thats the way i would do it.....
