Thanks in advance, it's a bit long!

Someone want's to trade an '89 Wrangler 2D sport utility, hardtop 4x4, 4.0 manual for my '93 3000 GT SL

I haven't even seen the Jeep yet, but it might be a good trade, both vehicles are likely to be worth about the same with condition and milage.

I haven't done anything with the 3KGT, it's nice inside, but it has a decent factory system. I'm done with these types of cars for now. I'm all about the trucks these days. This car has just been sitting in my yard, except for an occasional drive to keep it alive.  I drive a beater '89 corolla to work.

I never considered a Wrangler, but it might be fun to have around this winter (I live in NH) and it has room for some subs in the back.

What I'm wondering is how are the acoustics in these? Probably not good, I know they have road noise and the speakers are in the overhead bar?

I really don't want a Jeep, but If I can do something cool with this and have some fun, why not?

PROS: No payments (considering an '05 Tacoma)

4x4....need I say more?

probably runs better than my corolla, I can get rid of both cars and just drive this.

A little more interior cargo room than a regular cab Tacoma. Plenty of room for subs, amps or whatever I feel like keeping in there

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONS: no bed to put stuff in,

will use more gas, although for the cost of the vehicle minimizes the importance of saving fuel.

Probably not as secure, even with hardtop....although I can make any stereo equipment VERY difficult to steal. I already have some great ideas from the first Jeep I worked on while installing in a shop. I don't install anymore. I also know not to install anything where the public can see what I'm doing or play it loud. Any suggestions on security?

It is carburated, I've heard these are no good.

If I finance an '05 Tacoma, I'm probably leaving the system stock until I can score some good used stuff from installs and trades. The factory system is admirable, but I consider it JUNK as far as sound goes. Infact, I hope metra is working on a mounting kit right now to do somethin about that awful ugly stereo. I like it's location though, it's like a centerpiece to the dash......mmmm new truck, I think I already know what I want, but I'm open to opinions on the Jeep.

Jeep and "good for audio" don't belong in the same sentence together, scratch that they don't even belong in the same book.
The only way I would take a jeep is if it was a weekend screw around and go to the lake vehicle.

not even with kickpanel pods with components, subs and hundreds of watts? :D

Thanks, I kind of want to look at it, but I'm not real fired up about it. To be honest, I almost want it just because it should be easier to sell than the 3000 GT. Being winter time and 45 days from the Christmas is not helping a thing.

Is it ok to post it here for mobile electronics trades? I guess it would be fair....used electronics for used electronics....this whole car is a computer chip!

Frankly I'd be afraid to even do that because 99.9% would try to trade Sony Xplodes and other Kmart specials for the title of this distinguished member of the 3si family.

I would say decent will be about the best you will get audio wise in any wrangler.
Quite honestly you shouldn't really be basing your decision on whether to get the jeep or not by whether you can make the care sound great.

I can always plug a portable Mp3 boombox into an inverter. I've got some crappy Sony home sub too, $99 special....that will sound decent!

auex, you are right. Mechanical reliability, fixability and body/interior are most important.

Infact, I am a hypocrite already....I think the new Tacoma's stero sounds about as good as some GPX headphones, but I'd buy that truck in a heartbeat.

If I can get word that the carbed motors are reliable and managable, I'll be more likely to grab it. If I could convert it to fuels injection, even better! I've done some work, mechanical, audio/vidio, but I still don't know lots about them. I know the old ones are easy to work on.

Last time I changed a starter in a '99 Cherokee, guess who the manufacturer of the OEM starter was?.........

Mitsubishi Motors Coporation!

Yup, take a look at your American made Chrystler product, chances are there are more triple diamond parts in there than you can count.

Has anyone here modded out a Wrangler? I know they have torgue to spare. Can anyone recomend a good site for Jeep people? I'll look too, don't worry.
