this is my first post, i have a bounch of question , but my first question is regarding power inverters, i have hooked up a playstation 2 to a power inverter, the power inverter is hooked up to the cigarligther, my problem is than when i have the power inverter   on and the ps2 running, if i turn the ignition on, the inverter will shout off completly,  is this normal thing on power inverters or mine has a problem.  also is there any other way to wire the power inverter other than plugin it every time i want to used my ps2, because it has a fan if i live it plugged it will drain the battery. i hope you understand my post, all these is installed on a 99 lincoln navigator.

Your cigarette light may only be active when the car is running (at least that how it is in my car). You can hard wire it directoy to the battery (with a fuse) so that the playstation will stay on, but you will have to make sure you turn the playstation off/ or the inverter each time.

You can also use a fused ACC wire.

yes its because of the power outlet. If you hard wire it right to the battery then it won't shut off when turning on ignition.

Ya, just cut the end of the inverter off and run a fused power wire from the ignition or accessory wire in the sterring column, then it will only be on when the cars on.
