fuel cut off wit remote start

i am wanting to add a manual fuel cut off switch in my car but I still want the remote start to work. I know that it can work with a simple  relay but I am unsure about how to hook the wires up. Basically this is what I want it to do:

1. If the remote start is used, then allow the vehicle to start regardless of position of the manual switch

2.If the key is used to start, then the manual switch will need to be set to "on" in order to allow fuel pump to get power.

You are correct about using a relay to accomplish your task.  The connection is relatively simple if you are familiar with parallel circuits.  Just in case you're not, I'll try to explain.  Think of the circuit as a road, and the manual cutoff switch as a drawbridge - when the manual switch is turned off, the bridge is up and you can't cross. (current can't flow)

What the relay can do is provide a "fork in the road" which leads to a second "drawbridge".  This alternate route is normally unavailable, except when the remote start is in control. 

Pins 30 & 87 on the relay will be connected to the manual switch to provide the alternate path.  Connect pin 30 to one side of the manual switch, and pin 87 to the other side.  (It doesn't matter which wire goes to which side.)  When the relay's coil is energized, these pins will allow current to flow even if the manual switch is in the off position.

The relay's coil (pins 85 & 86) will need to be energized by the remote starter - depending on the unit you are using, you may have either a "ground when running" wire, or a wire which shows +12v when the remote starter is active.    Whichever one you find, connect it to pin 85.  If you connected the "ground when running" wire, then connect pin 86 to a constant +12v source.  If you connected a +12v wire, then connect pin 86 to ground.
