i've been burning cds to play in my pioneer mp3 player.

lots of the songs don't work.  I was curious, i haven't actually tested half the stuff i burn either.

BUT i just noticed a lot of my media is in Windows Media Format.  not MP3.. would this cause the mp3 player to not work?

You must have any older Pioneer...most MP3 HU's nowadays will play WMA files also.
Check your settings on your burner at home (or wherever you're burning the songs from)

Media player can record cd to mp3, I do it all the time. I'm not sure if you need a codec or a separate download or update but mine does rip to mp3.

i would avoid using Windows' media player. it does not have the best burning technology, and unless im mistaken you cant do anything above 128k in mp3 format.
i'd suggest looking for either:
Nero
Xing Audio Catalyst
theres a couple others but i just woke up and cant think clearly. either one of the above should work for you though. i use Audio Catalyst personally, but i know nero should work for you as well.

Media Player does mp3 up to 320 on my pc.  I was wondering what the windows media audio lossless format was.  Has anyone tested this to see if it really is lossless.  It was windows media audio with fixed and variable bit rate and lossless.
