99 Jeep Cherokee same as 98

I want to install a remote starter in a 99 Cherokee. Is the wiring and color codes the same for 99 as 98? I searched this forum and found this but it is locked so sorry for the new thread. "12volts red & pink/black    +   ignition harness

If you have the Gray ign key, you will need to install a bypass module. Here is a link to what one looks like. Yes the 2 vehicles are different. The 1998 doesn't have a sentry key system and you can use a databus doorlock interface module for this as well or you can use 4 relays and wire each front doors for the keyless entry.Jeff

Yes, that is correct. The 1998 doesn't require any bypass modules for it to be remote started. The Laredo that I did last week had nothing for security except the OEM alarm system. The only problem that I see is that the range will be short on this because it uses the OEM remote FOB's. I would still get a stand alone aftermarket remote start system if I were youJeff
