power door locks? how they work

on my old toyota truck, the power door locks had a nice feature where if you turn the key twice it would open the driver and passenger door locks.

would anyone know if this is a mechanical feature or an electronic circuit?

If its electronic where would the BRAIN be?  next to the switches maybe? or

That is what is called driver door proirity. most alarms come with them. It be electronic, were will the brain be i dont know.
