I am trying to install a Audiovox Prestige 786 alarm and remote start in this vehicle.  I have found several wiring color codes bu most conflict on some of the wires on the truck.

The Glow Plug wire location.  Is it on the ECM on the lower driver side of the engine or on the PCM on the passegner firewall?

The Tach wire location.  Is it on the PCM and what location?

The wires in the driver kick panel for the door locks don't even resemle the colors that I found at Direct Wire.

Last but not least, I can't find a door trigger wire for the driver's door.

Any help or advise would be great

it is on the lower driver side of the motor from what i recall there are 2 sets of wires it is the front one. looks like a steel box on the side of the motor can reach it from under the car better.  The door trigger is lock and unlock on one wire u have to use resistors try whatever directed says get a couple extra try it cant damage it.

Quick put the fire out!!!

I wired everything in.  Although several opinions are out there about the tach wire, I wired it to the PCM, ORANGE / black, after testing it with a DMM and the engine running.  This was the major wire that I still needed to hook up today.  Now I have the following troubles at the dash.

ABS and Brake lights-On

Air Bag Light- On at start then off for about 2 seconds then on again

Speedometer not working. Cruise and Door auto locks not engaging (may be from speedometer not working)

No A/C the at the button or heated mirrors.  The level control is also out.  I know that the heated mirrors worked this morning prior to connecting the tach wire. WHAT HAVE I DONE?

There are several IGN & ACC wires that all need to be powered up during remote start that you probably did not hook up yet. Make sure that yo have these hooked up in the ignition switch harness:

12V|pnk/blk & RED / wht   |+  |ignition harness

STARTER|small yellow              |+  |ignition harness
IGNITION|blue     (16 awg)   |+  |ignition harness
SECOND IGNITION|small RED / white    |+  |ignition harness
ACCESSORY|green       |+  |ignition harness
SECOND ACCESSORY|small orange  |+  |ignition harness

As far as the speedometer, remove that connection from the PCM and find a YELLOW/WHITE wire on the driver's side of the cylinder head in a 4 wire gray connector.

Also on that alarm the GREEN/ YELLOW wire (GLOW PLUG) is not necessary. The unit needsto be programed from gas to diesel and change the setting in the program mode for either a 10,15,20 second warmup before the truck starts. All this can be found in the remote start programing portion of the manual.

Arm/lock is negative trigger thru a 2K ohm resistor. Disarm/unlock is negative trigger thru a 480 ohm resistor. Single pulse will do disarm without unlocking the doors. Unlock requires a double pulse. MUST use relays.
