on my friend's 1994 Apthfinder the tach is screwed up and if you tap it it becomes crazy and jumps aroudn from looking around the internet i have found that other people have had the same problem with their tach however non have said anythign about it making the cruise not work

now the cruise control will come onas if it is to work then shut back off immediately over the course of about 1 second before it started to completely screw up it would be set and it woud accelerate for no reason and cut off for no reason

my question is what is wrong with the cruise adn is it linked with the tach

thanks for any help

This may be an unrealated problem. This sounds like the cruise computer is not functioning properly as we had this problem on a few Honda's and some Nissans as well. We replaced the cruise computers and the problem went away. As far as the tach goes, try to find the tach input wire for the dash and run a new wire direct from the engine.
