I am a first timer at this.To install a allarm/remote start is it necessary to drop the steering column (if possible)? Also I have the wireing I.D. list but do not see the nuetral safety switch wire , what color & location would it be? I have the passlock bypass module and it tells me to look for a 3 wire ribbon cable at the steering column , I can't find this cable.

one last thing, the unit I am installing is the commando 870-fm two way system,is this a decent and reliable unit?

thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide  tmon1031

It's only broke,if you can't fix it.

passlock wires are yellow, ORANGE / black and RED / white.
You do not have to drop the column, I remove the knee bolster panel and the small metal panel under that, all ignition wires, passlock wires and brake wire are accesable there. Parklights are at the switch as is door trigger.
tach is at the engine computer, drivers fender, white wire in connector labeled white. it's the only white wire.
Locks are up high, to the right of the steering column towards the firewall, relay pack, blue and white positive trigger.
