I'm looking for a pair of component speakers and would like some recommendations.  I use to have JL Audio XRs and absolutely loved them, but now I don't have them, and I only have $150 max for speakers.  And yes, I will power them with an amp.

I listened to the Alpine S-Type components the other day at Circuit City, but they really sounded bad.  The highs were just too harsh and sounded nothing close to natural.  I listened to the Infinity Reference as well while I was there.  Significantly better and more natural than the S-Type's.  They were ok.

I'm going to listen to some Alpine R-Type's and Infinity Kappa's today.  I definitely want components.  Any comments or recommendations?

Well if your budget doesn't include shipping, then the Zeb has some nice CDT 6.5" components for $150. Check it out:

Stupid ass Sound Advice.  I go to Sound Advice today to listen to the Infinity Kappa's and Alpine R-Types, and sure enough... they don't carry either.  I really don't get that store.  They had JL Audio XR, MB Quarts Ref and Qs, and then Alpine S-Types and Pioneer's first line of speakers (the cheap blue ones).  From $50 to some MB Quarts that were retailed at $1300!  That's expensive for car audio... for me at least.

I did listen to the MB Quarts Reference though.  Those REALLY sounded nice.  Hopefully I will find a place this weekend to listen to R-Types and Kappas.  If not, I think I might go with MB Quarts.  I found a pair for $150 new online.
