99 Sunfire - PLXR Passlock bypass

Anyone familliar with Code Alarm might have come across this but, its the first time it happened to me. I've used DEI in the past and never had it happen before. Did a basic Remote start on a customers car, programmed the PLXR (passlock bypass) everything worked fine. Tested it a few times, put it back together, tested it again, figured all was good. Pulled the car out of the shop. A few hours later the customer came back to pick up his car and it wouldn't remote start or start with the key. It apparently set the car into theft protection, so I let it reset. Found out that some cars have a small amount of voltage that sometimes backfeeds into the starter wire and into the bypass, sometimes setting the ar into protect mode. Never had that problem with a DEI 555L, but anyway. The solution is to put 2 diodes in line on the starter wire and it prevents any backfeeding into the PLXR. Did it and all was good. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before with Code or anyother companies?

On the PLXR ( bottom left of page ) it warns you about this on certain models of GM vehicles. It says to relay isolate the starter wire from the module. It happens and it's crap as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why Trilogix can't just put in the diodes themselves and save the installer this hassle.Jeff

Yeah, I saw the diagram before, but this was the first time it ever occured that I actually needed to do anything concerning it. Speaking of certain lines (Circuit City)from Code Alarm compared to DEI, I'm not that pleased with them. All the programming steps are a joke. On board shock sensors ease install, but are a pain to get adjusted correctly.The tachless for the romote starts works great, but for some of the higher lines, programming steps......nothing at all like DEI. sorry just complaining today. haha maybe its just a matter of getting use to them. I ordered a system direct from Code(the price was right) for one of my own vehicles and plan on using that to familliarize myself with all of its features.

Please explain the diode setup. I'm having the same problem, it starts fine sometimes and then won't start at all. Reset everything and it works fine for a while then does it all over again. I'm using an Astrostart R/S with DEI 555L bypass on an '97 GrandAm. Thank YouCementBrain
