Does anyone have any idea what I might do with a pair of blown 12" ppi pro flat piston subs? ppi no longer repairs them nor do they have parts for repairing them. I believe the voice coils are done.

if you have a large stack of papers that need to be held down you have a nice paper weight.

I was gonna post "make a nice set of lamps" but I thought I'd wait and see if there were any serious replies first.  Looks like I needn't have bothered! :)

I suppose these subs are notorious for blowing. Is there something I don't or didn't know about these subs?

Not necessarily "notorious" for blowing, unless you used a cheap amp on them.  In general, so-called "piston drivers" are not worth the cost of their raw materials in my opinion, unless all you want is high SPL numbers.  The fact that PPI will not support them should tell you quite a bit about the quality of the design, since Directed in general supports their brands fairly well.

I see. Thank you for the info. I think my amp was not up par and it smoked them.
