It is just because I am wanting it to fit nicely in her trunk. Is that a bad idea? what is IMO?

In my opinion.  It's the only web-speak shortcut I know, BTW.  heh heh  But that's cool, if she doesn't need the room for groceries and stuff. But I don't have experience with that sub to check the size.

why not make the unused portion an amp rack, you could keep the front only with a plexi window.

Actually.. (closing my good ole WinISD window) an internal braced volume of 1.25ft^3 sounds perfect to me. The Qtc is around .775 at that volume. This should be excellent for sound quality (transient response and extension). Go for it!

Because I am placing the sub in the middle, therefore it wouldn't be blanced... with an amp rack on one side and just a carpeted side on the other... I dunno, I just like to keep things balanced... and as well it is a Memphis amp, so putting it in little compartment, and closeing it up would make it more likely to overheat... which as everyone knows would make the amp distort... I had thought about that idea before... but I dunno... its just the fact of the balancing... unless I do purchase her a Cap... then it just becomes the overheating thing... it is a great thought however... I will add pics as I do more of the box...

you could easily put a squirrel cage fan in the box and it would never over heat. not to mention that d amps shouldn't really get all that hot, esp with a fan. I do appriciate the balance issue. although if you were feeling really creative, you could make the window into the amp box a circle and give it the same posiioning and size as the sub. thne back light the plexi with some leds and it could look real tight. just a thought, do post some pics of whatever you finally come up with

Well, this is just a box for now... she is getting a brand new S40 in 3 or 4 months, so I will do something really cool for her then.. this is just got now... but that is a good idea... I will keep that in mind when I do her next one.
