hi there, i need some info on installing a second battery to power my music . I need to know the proper way to hook it up to the car , location, why use a battery isolator , types of battery isolators, and how they work.. Any info will be appreciated....

a battery isolator allows for both batteries to be charged but does not allow one battery to pull from the other if it is lossing power. it also only allows the battery under the hood to be used when starting the car. you can put the second battery anywhere but the best location for the battery isolator is under the hood somewhere. there are lot of different companies that make battery isolators and they normally are not hard to find.

to follow up, the battery isolator is basically a huge diode. Read what a diode does and you'll understand. Also yes it is a good idea to have one but it is not required.
