Hi folks,
I just bought a cheap ProStart starter from Canadian Tire, and I'm trying to install it. Got most of it in, but now I'm up to the 'anti-grind' part of the installation. I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and this is what happens.
I can start the truck with the remote, and I can start the truck with the key, but if I start the truck with the remote and I try to crank with the key, I get the KILLER gear grinding noise from teh starter teeth.. is there a circuit I have to build to get the feature to work?
Any help would be MUCH appreciated..
Thanks folks,
96JeepZJ

Alright, What you will need to do is locate the ground when armed or anti grind wire coming off of the alarm. YOu will need to wire a relay like this, 85 0-trigger from alarm, anti grind/ground when armed wire, 86 +12V, 30 one end of starter wire, 87A other end of starter wire. Then you would place this relay between the key and where you tied into the car starter wire for remote start.

Jeep,
   I beleive the anti-grind feature on your alarm is so that the alarm will not grind your starter. Whenver you turn your key while the car is running, it will always grind.

think about what you just said ratman1974........ did that make any sense to you??

the whole idea of anti-grind is to prevent you from grinding the starter with the key if the vehicle is already running.......

gwr = Ground when running

also just connect the starter wire from your REMOTE starter to the motorside of your relay

Testing is the key
