best to fuse closest to your battery.   after that you dont have to worry about anything.   If you get a spike it should blow the fuse by the battery first

jeffchilcott everyone else here is saying that I NEED in addition to the fust at the battery that i need to fuse the wires before the amps beacuse im going to be running the 2 guage to a dISTRO block then two 4s to each amp. th eone amp is a phoenix gold tantrum 300.2 it will be doing 320RMS @ 4ohms and the other will be doing 80*2RMS (160RMS total @ 4ohms). they saying that i need to FUSE the 4 guages before going to amp. i have the 80amp fuse at the battery.

since i dont have a distro block now can i run the 2 GUAGE directly to either my 160RMS amp or my 320RMS amp temporaily till i get the distro block the 2 guage will be fused at the batter by 80AMPS. thanks let me know.

You do not need a fused distrobution block, a normal one will work.  I like fused ones so i can pull the fuse for the one amp and disconect that single amp without going under the hood or anything.

Technically all you need is teh fuse under the hood, , but some at the split for the amps can never hurt.   It is important to have a fused distro block however if you have a 250 amp fuse at the battery, , then you split it down to 4 awg, , you will need to fuse the 4 awg wire to prevent them from over current and melting.  But in your situation, since your only useing a 80 amp fuse at the batt, you will be fine.

If you are going to go big with that "extra 2 guage" (lucky)... Then i'd fuse it with a 250-300 Amp fuse. You got overkill, so finish it with overkill. Then it will all be good.

ok cuz my "system" which really isnt a system will contain this after the 2 guage install

1 Phoenix Gold Tantrum 300.2 (321RMS*1 @4 ohms thats the MAX the amp can do continously at 14.39V) this will be powering my JL 12W3v2 D2 in a 2.0 ft^3 ported box tuned to about 32.5HZ or so.

1 ALpine V12 MRV-T320 it will do 80*2 RMS @ 4ohms it will power my INFINTY KAPPA PERFECTS 6.1's

Tomorrow the weather is looking good since i dont have 4guage wire lying around i wanan run the 2 guage directly to the alpine amp and use the sub iwth that amp till i can get some 4 guage is this safe?

Once i get anotehr distro block and some 4 guage wiring.  I will Run the 2guage to distro run 2 4guages to each amp then run the 2 - (groun ) wires from amp to a distro block then run the 2 guage to ground ? this is all i plan to do thanks. im not in a hazard zone by doing this correcct?

uthinkuknoaudio: what do you exactly mean by having a 250AMp fuse i will never ever be usign more than that my car cant even put out that much lol. also i dont excatly know what you mean by YOU got overkill finish it off with over kill?
