i was under the impression that mono amps only had one output, but i recently saw a pic of the MTX amp that i think im getting to power my shiva. it has 2 outputs. can it be bridged? the amp in question is an MTX 421D. thanks.

I don't know what you are talking about, attach a hyperlink. Mono amps are single channel amps. Mono is greek for one (remember that). If it is a bi-channel amp then it might be able to be bridged, check its specifications it would say so. Shiva is a great woofer. If you are getting one you need one that is 4 ohm stable. If you are getting two you can get one 8 or 2 ohm stable...

The 2 outputs are connected internally. The second output is added for convenience when using multiple speakers/voice coils. Make sure to follow the correct impedence specs for the amp.

The 421D is stable to 2 ohm mono. It is very underrated. The 311D will push a pair of 12" MTX 5500 subs fairly hard at 2ohm mono. So the 421D will be more than sufficient for 1-12".

You can attach one 2-ohm load to one set of terminals, or two 4-ohm loads using both sets.  Either way will put a 2-ohm load on the amp.

what i want to do is run the dual 8ohm V.C.'s on the Shiva in parallel so it will be 4 ohm load. so it doent matter what positive and what negative i use because they are both the same thing? just put 2 pos. and 2 neg. on the outside of the amp for people who are running multiple speakers. i think this is correct. thanks.
