Does anyone have info on installing a GM factory remote starter in the new G6? I have seen the factory units and they look simple (one molex plug.) I just dont know where to start for the install. I have been told from a deler tech theat it may require a 2000$ wire harnes from the factory. I find this hard to belive since it is supposed to be a 150$ dealer option. I do a lot of work with a local Pontiac dealer and I could possibly have access to these units.

Did you buy one of these factory units...WHY, they have stupid range (like 200 feet) on a good day!

The thing to do here would be .....take it back and get a GOOD aftermarket unit, one that will function well with your factory security (like astroflex) Just a thought. PLUS sounds to me like all your gonna get from the dealer is the runaround......typical Look at this link to DEI and think about it. It wont void your warranty or anything like that

My brother inlaw owns a Pontiac Dealership and he brought a unit over to my shop. He said his techs at the dealer are afraid to install them. I was just curious on the install proccedure. I have tested some new cars with the new factory system and belive it or not they seem to work well at far distances(over 200 feet!) . Belive me I will contiue to sell aftermarket remote starters,but if there is a money making potential to install factory units I might be intersted.

Plus the OEM remote start units are a fair bit more "intelligent" than their aftermarket kin... they know whether to turn on the AC or the heat in the vehicle based on ambient temp etc.....

hey, never deny a guy a potential market niche... regardless of the product....
