I have been freeking out all day today, because I wanted to install the Alpine 9813 I bought off a friend.  Only to learn that he didn't have the proper wire harness for it and it was missing the mounting sleeve as well. So I went out and finally fount the mounting kit and wire harness for my 97 S-10. and came home to call somewhere to find the pieces I was missing. I was told at a few very well known stores that, I would have to get them to order me a brand new plug right from Alpine and it would be approx. $100 Cdn. I freeked because I only paid $100 for the stereo. And then my mind kicked in, I checked out ebay to see if there were any for sale cheaper, and it gave me the thoughts of the reverse harness. And I've discovered the best company ever for do it yourselfers, is Scosche. They make the mounting kits, wire harnesses anything you need for it, they got it. I wish they were more available here in Canada. Only a few stores carry thier products. I wish every knew about these people.

Have a wal-mart up there?  They carry scosche products.

You must be talking about a harness that connects to the stock stereo harness.  Which the case would be that you would have to get it...all makes are different.

Now if its the alpine harness that comes with the radio, your getting shafted bad.  No harness should cost 100$- yeah i know its canadian..still like $85US.

This the one you need?

I did go to Walmart and get the wire harness made for the chevy. But I needed to go to Best Buy to get the mounting kit. Mine's some stupid special type that they don't use very often.  But these reverse harnessess I had never seen before. Actually I had never even heard of them before. The Scosche brand hasn't been in Canada very long. and if it was it's not well known to the general public.  The plug I needed was to put in the alpine deck.  It should have originally come with the HU, but after the original owner of it tore his car apart, he forgot to grab it, and there went the one I needed. So yeah I was told that I would have to buy a new one right from Alpine. They're on crack.

Technology is wonderful and truely helpful ... Somedays
