...odd sig...  But at the risk of pushing you into torch mode, you don't want to apply anything in the port.  It's optional in the area around the woofer.  As far as visible sound damping on the car...it's not seen on cars that have carpeted liners, as I believe your car should have.  Remove the trunk lid liner, apply damping to the sheet metal, and put the liner back.  If nowhere else in the trunk area, you'll find that you definitely need it there.  But it can always be applied after you've set up and tested the system and pinpointed the worst rattle locations.

Nononono, I understand that there should be nothing in the port, I was wondering about the ported side of the box, i.e., both chambers, but not the port itself.

Re the dynamat: I understand I could hide dynamat under/behind the carpet in the trunk and trunk walls, but the trunk lid itself is fiberglas or some other type of plastic and is not carpeted. Would the lid have to be covered too? Y'all may yet talk me out of running that port through the back seat.
