Ok In my old '87 Buick Century a while back, i had Best Buy install a head unit for me... wich was a waste of money, now that i realize how simple it is to do... But ok, it was for a JVC head unit... so they put a buick wiring harness in, and the harness for the jvc that had come with the head unit...
so i uninstalled it from the buick, and put the old radio back in, and now i have a 97' saturn SL2 ... and i went and bought a GM harness from 1988 - 2002 ... all the wires on that are labeled... the ones from the head unit, arent... how am i suposed to find out wich wires are wich?
lol

Don't you still have your owner's manual?  Or you can try to download one from JVC's web site.

Don't assume the red is 12v..in fact don't assume anything when it comes to wiring. Read the installation manual..it should tell you exactly what each color is. For the most part the colors usually match up, but don't do anything until you've read the manual.

one more question. A wiring harness for GM cars from years 1988 - 2002 would work on a 1997 Saturn SL2, correct?
I believe Saturn is made by GM, or am i wrong?
(i am getting the car in a few hours, so havent been able to test fit)

Metra 70-1858 which is the standard GM harness for that year.  What's the model of your JVC HU?
