RE SE 12ported vs 15 seald

which one would be louder in general a 12" ported or a 15" seald of the same subwoofer type....in particular the RE SE...an how much louder would it be

they would be about equal, with the 12 you would gain approx 3 db from a ported box. and with the 15 you would gain a bit from the larger cone area.   The 12 in the end, in a ported box would be louder in general2009 0-1000 Trunk WR 154.0DB 2009 1001+ Trunk WR

The SE15, in a sealed box at specs shown at the RE website, has a steep drop off of 3 db from 60 Hz to 40 Hz.  So I don't like its low end extension unless you build a massive enclosure for it.  The SE12, at the RE box specs for vented, gives you a peak in freqs centered at 45 Hz with fairly steep drop offs on either side....very much like using a bass boost centered at 45 Hz at 3 db.  The SPL of each, when used in those given enclosures, are about the same at 89 db.  Otherwise, the 15 is more efficient by 2 db (88 db as compared to 86 db for the 12).
