I have finished installing a Valet remote starter on my 02 Chevy Trailblazer and everything works, but one problem when I turn off the vehicle the radio stays ON until the driver's door is open. What wire do I need to tap into on the Trailblazer?.... I think it is the remote starter module GREEN/ black(-)factory alarm disarm wire that should tie into the light green wire in the drivers door module. Would this be correct? Thanks in advance. This forum has been so helpful, and if anyone needs any help on a 02 Trailblazer remote install it's still fresh in my mine, just finished up tonight!!!

You need to pulse the driver's door pin wire with the REARM wire from the Valet unit.

You will need to give a negative pulse on the door wire at the end of the start cycle.
Use the rearm output from your valet. Wire is grey black pin A2 At driver door module.

Where did you get the wiring diagram for your 2002 trailblazer.  I want to install remote starter in my 2002 trailblazer but don't have the vehicle wiring diagram.  Can you help me out?  Thank you in advance.

I see this all the time- And I can't understand why it is a concern.  so the radio stays on after the remote start times out or is aborted- How many times in normal remote starting situations do you let the system time out? - I normally drive away and want the radio on- so the radio is on during R/s and the Retained accessory power relay holds it on for an extra 15 minutes- this is the vehicle doing this and is true every time you shut the vehicle off and don't open the door.  Only those who test them would be concerned- all others would never notice...  just my thoughts.....Maybe people don't like the radio on during R/S- if so turn it off when you turn the heat up (in winter) or down (in summer).  Maybe installers (those not used to it) don't realize this is the RAP relay and it is to be expected, and they think they did something wrong.  ........

I installed a Hornet (DEI) alarm/remote starter) in a 2003 Envoy so my wiring should be essentially the same as yours. Might depend on which RS kit you get. The wires you need to locate (and you may have already had to find some of them):

At steering column (big wires):

  • 12VDC constant- 2 of them. 2 red wires or one red, one RED / white
  • 12VDC accessory #1- brown. Needed for dash lights
  • 12VDC accesory #2- orange. The Disk 3.0 calls it ignition #3 but it's accessory. Need for AC/heat.
  • 12VDC starter- yellow. Cutting it in half was the very last thing I did. Made me nervous.
  • 12VDC ignition #1- pink
  • IMPORTANT- ignition #2- white. You will fry your transmission if you don't grab this one!

tach wire- 1-6VAC, not VDC. Take your pick-

  • white wire behind speedometer. So much easier than the next option IMHO.
  • white wire in C1 Conn at PCM (3 harnesses on left side of engine, blue harness closest to firewall, pin #49

brake wire- 12VDC white wire at brake pedal harness.

neutral safety switch- vehicle itself disables starter except in park and neutral, so I grounded it to frame.

parking lights- Most tables say 12VDC brown wire high in driver's kick. Balderdash. I used PURPLE GROUND wire in light switch harness (GROUND when lights on, not 12VDC. Have to change a jumper on brain to use Ground!).

ground- pick a good bolt behind glove box that holds dashboard to firewall.

included in your kit- hood pin switch. Wire goes through firewall. Disables starter when hood's up so you don't injure yourself when you lean against fender with remote in your pants pocket.

things not to worry about- door pin wires, door locks, windows, headlights, horn, OEM alarm, PassLock. You need an interface to disable PassLock II anyway. Just get an all-in-one interface. DEI, CrimeStopper, Trilogix (BypassKit.com) have them. I've used Trilogix's GMDL-BP on a 2003 Silverado and 2004 Envoy without a hitch. Your mileage may vary. CrimeStopper's supposedly works the seat heaters and front defroster, from what I hear.

If you use a GMDL-BP you're going to have to run the rear defogger wire to the GMDL-BP to keep the engine from dying right after it starts. You might be able to use that wire for both functions, but I'd isolate with diodes before trying it.

This weekend I'm going to try to hook up the front defroster and heated seats. If I'm successful I'll post what I did.

By the way, speaking of Retained Accessory Power: If you use a GMDL-BP and don't use Passive Arming on the alarm, the domelight will be turned off when you arm the system with the remote. Just like using the OEM remote. The big orange accessory wire under the steering column shows 12VDC when the ignition is in Accessory or On, and about 18VDC with the ignition Off and Retained Accessory Power in effect. Go figure. If you need "pure" RAP you can grab one of the wires at the lights overhead by either front door opening or trace them down the "B" pillars. I gave up trying to find it in the kick. Love those guides that say to grab it at the light under the dash.
