need help...do i need a new wire harness for my 1988 bmw 325is or do i just hot wire it??

What's in there now, factory or after market?

If that car is like my 87 528e then there is no harness, the factory deck is just hard wired in. Now I'm not 100% sure they'd be the same, but there's a pretty good chance. Also in the 5-series the speaker leads behind the dash are common ground to an amp in the trunk, so you have to run new speaker wires. I've never worked on a 3-series however so your car might be quite different.
