Chris,  I have my tach wire hooked up to the white wire behind the cluster,  Did you use a module to bypass the Passlock 2?  Did you have to do anything with the KEY SENSE wire? If so where did you find it and connect it to the Passlock 2 bypass module?

Your best bet is you use a module for passlock unless you really know what your doing.  It's not hard but you have understand it well.  Also the modules are mostly self learning now so you won't have to get back in there and change resistor values down the road.   You don't need the key sense for any modules I am aware of.  It is very easy to find the key sense wire anyways if you do need it.

I need to know if my vehicle has to have the key sense output hooked up.  I don't have a clue if it has it or not.  I have a module for Passlock but I think its giveing me problems because of what the directions say and what I have.

What problems are you having?  The truck does not require the key sense output to be hooked up.  The module might, but should work fine without it as long as key is not in the ignition.

Eric,

Yes, I used the CrimeStopper GMATAII module.  You have to if you want remote start.  Basically, you have to measure the resistance of the circuit and dial in the pot on the module to match.  Wasn't hard at all.  I think it takes 2 relays and you have to get the exact resistor to match if you don't want to get a module.  But, at 4-6 bucks a relay and wire and having to have a way to go get a resistor if you don't have a Radio Shack next door, it was worth the 15 bucks I paid.  I did nothing with the key sense and my remote start works fine.  Hope this answers your questions.

Regards,

Chris

I have a IPPME self learning module.  I don't have to measure resistance anywhere.  I think I might need to hook up my key sense wire because I can't get my truck to start.  My Prestige APS-685 according to the directions on how to program the tach input says when the tach signal is learned the lights will flash on and off as long as you hold in the program button, when you release it the lights are supposed to stay on for 3 seconds and go out.  This is supposed to meen that the pickup has learned the tach signal and is out of programming mode.  It does all of this.  When I try to start the pickup with the remote it turns over and then dies.  When I run the diagnostics check the lights flash 2 times telling me that there is a week or no tach signal.  How could this be when I just got done "learning" the tach signal?  My only idea is that the IPPME module isn't allowing the pickup to run and then my remote start unit does't see a tach signal so thats why I get a week or no tach signal on the diagnostics.  Does anyone have any other ideas to my problem?

If there is a problem with your IPPME module, the security light will come on and you will not be able to start the truck even with the key for 20 minuts.

that does happen, but it not for 20 minuits it's more like 5 to 10.  So if my truck does't want to start with the remote it's probably a problem with my IPPME module?  Could it have anything to do with the key sense wire that I don't have hooked up for the IPPME?
