Overcranking Autostart

I bought an Autostart 1514 model, in 2001 for my 2000 Cavalier. Except for some blown fuses and 3 trips back to the installer, it has been not too bad a system.The trips are 2and one half hours long and usually in the winter, to get service from the installer.

The latest problem is that when the keypad is used to start the engine, the starter keeps cranking as the engine runs, until the remote starer kicks it off.  If you use the key to start the engine there is no problem with it.

 I had brougt it back to the installer last week for this problem . He said he" reprogrammed it" Off I went back home for the 2 hour drive.Now he says to bring it back again....

The alternater was changed in late November and the battery was also changed on Dec 20. It seems as the remote started acting up like this after this work was done. Now even after "reprograming".

Any ideas

Sounds like the tach connection is corroded if it just started doing this. It may be time to buy a new alarm and find a new installer.

The company I work for is an Authorized AutoStart dealer.  I work for Standard Auto Glass all our techs are licenced and have extensive experience with the product.  I'm sure we have a location near you.

It's the tach wire, with Autostart units you have to reset the CPU and reprogram the remote control, tach and other user functions as ewll. If you replaced the battery, for sure you will need to do this. It's simple and is necessary with these units if battery power is lost for any length of time.
