How many of you guys install for dealerships but don't work for them? How did you get started? I want to take my store to a new level and install with the New car dealers.

Just be ready for a whole bunch of "no's"....and "thats too much money" All they know is "profitability" If you cant show them HOW they will make money......you lose! Know your compatition, and be rady to answer ANY question about them...

Get out NOW and MAKE THEM REMEMBER YOUR FACE AND NAME. Then ask for the business. They don't have time to talk to you. You must be an "everpresent" person in the right guys life. Make sure you talk to the guy that makes the decisions on who to buy from.

This is what I do, and how I pay my bills. Olympia is a "car town" Lots of new car dealers ....and plenty of pot lots!

Just be ready for rejection.....remember, they are used to dealing with people that don't do what they say they will.

Also if/when you do get in with the lots, be prepared to wait to get your money.

auex is right... dealers want everything done yesterday, and then you always have to wait for your money.

I do dealership work and have a good relationship with them. They know that the vehicle will not leave my shop till its paid for in full. Set the precident early for what you expect and dont let them push you around.

i think your about the first person ive ever heard of that says the dealers pay up front when the job is done. cause every dealer ive ever heard of in the states usually dont pay until the end of the month

I USED TO WORK MOBILE AT DEALERS, BUT NOW AM IN HOUSE. dealers have always given p.o.'s the same day as the install, but dont pay them till the end of the month (if you are lucky). you do have to show them how to make the money, and be prepared, they want everything to have 3 yr 36000 mile warranty. customers love to abuse equipment so expect to do alot of service calls for remotes and th like. also you will become the scape goat for anything that is wrong with the car. "darn thing has a flat tire... oooh it has a remote start on it, better call the alarm guy it is probably something to do with that."

yeah, we all Know how dealers love to blame us for everything. like the always infamous... "the alarm system is draining the battery"

I love that one, has anyone ever actually had and alarm or RS drain the battery?. I hear it usually a couple times a year and have never actually had it turned out to be the units?

ive been doing this for 9 yrs. and have yet to see an alarm system actually draw anywhere near the amount of current necc. to drain a battery.

actually i have one better, where the dealer was claiming that the dvd player we installed was draining the battery in less then 1 day.
