I'm thinkin about two Alpine 12" subs (SWR-1241D) & a Alpine amp (MRD-M605). So will this setup work out good? One of my friends said that I should have 2 amps because its hard on my head unit but i dont know.

With two amps your friend is talking about one amp on your subs and another on the front speakers. Your cd player makes 50w x 4 when lightning strikes and cannot even come close to the output of a real 50w amplifier. Once you have two subs pounding away, they tend to mask the distortion that comes out of the smaller speakers. This distortion is cused by clipping the tiny iniscule little amp in the head unit. Clipping basically is running the amp out of clean power and producing dirty power. All of a sudden one day your speakers are dead, this is why. Adding an amp will also allow greater protection to the speakers by means of a high pass crossover, proper gain setting to keep clipping from happening and of course a much better balance of power in relation to the subs output levels.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
