I'm putting a Compustar into my manual trans 99 s-10. The radio stays on until the door is opened, from the factory. I will put the starter in with manual transmission mode. After I get out and have it in reservation mode or what ever its called, will the radio stay on? I know the vehicle will shut it off after 20 minutes, but will this happen every time. Can I just not hook up the acc wire that runs the radio? Any help would be great. Thanks

Just in case I wasn't clear, I havent't received the unit yet so I'm just guessing what will happen.

as far as radio staying on, you shouldnt have a problem since it still stay on b4 you leave ur car.

It will stay on. I think it might turn off after 10 minutes though. You can pulse the Tan (-) drivers door pin wire after shut down to turn it off. Pin B4 of the purple plug at the BCM located right of the pedal below the radio. I am pretty sure there is also a door pin wire but I don't know for sure if that wire will turn off the radio or not. The doorpin is located on the left side of the drivers dash where the door closes against the dash. The wire is on the back of the doorpin switch naturally. I know the doorpin wire can be used for rearming the factory alarm if you have one. let me know if you are interested in that info.

If I pulse the wires I think the alarm will think the door opened and take it out of reservation mode. Anyway, if the wire for the radio is separate and I didn't hook it up to the remote start, when the RS kicked in when E-brake is on and key is off maybe it would shut off radio when the door is opened when engine is running.

Ok, I see from other posts that I could use an alarm rearm negative pulse from RS(that I dont need, no factory alarm)to make vehicle think door is opened then closed. I would just need to isolate it from RS door trigger sensor. The door trigger sensors already need to be diode isolated for RS hookup. Would anyone know how to wire this up?

I think I could cut one of the factory door trigger wires upline closer to the computer than the door sense wire for the RS. I would put a diode to only let pulse flow toward computer. The rearm neg pulse would be wired closer to the computer than the diode. This would work as long as the RS rearm neg pulse is after the RS shuts down the ignition.
seem like a complicated problem I know there has to be at least one of you experts that would know if my thinking is correct or better yet a different way of doing it
thanks for all the help

I either stumped the experts or didn't phrase the question very well.

aaron, what you said about cutting the factory door trigger wire and inserting a diode is correct. Striped side of diode goes toward door trigger, door trigger wire from remote start goes on door trigger side of diode and rearm wire goes on the BCM side of the diode.
