hey, I am installing a polarstart remote start in my 1988 toyota celica. Have a few questions.

1. They grey connection goes to the hood pin switch, then is the connection completed by the hood pin switch being grounded out to the frame?

2. There are many wired that Don't seem to be needed for my application, is this true? the wires are:

12-pin harness (none of them seem to apply to my application).

Parking Light (+)

12V Battery (the second one)

5th auxilary output

Any help would be appreciated

On a remote start, you need to use all of the 12v. connections. They give voltage to the internals of the unit.

The 12 volt parking light wire is for the light flash. You don't NEED to use it, but without it no light flash.

The aux outputs....NOPE, unless your doing more than a "basic" job

alright, i got the:

HARNESS 1:

2 (12V) battery connections done.

purple is connected to the starter output

yellow wire is connected to the ignition output

orange is connected to the accessory output

green is not used.

HARNESS 2:

black is grounded

purple is connected to the BLACK/ orange at the distributor

grey is connected to the hood pin switch

orange is connected to the brake switch

yellow is connected to the parking light output

So when I put the fuses in for the battery connections, it would flash twice, and the lights would too, so i know they work. but when i go to flash the hood pin switch, to enter programming mode, nothing happens. the hood is up. and i use the PAB button, i tried just hitting it once, nothing happens, or four 4 seconds-pause-then again once more. still nothing.

If you have any advice, pleaase let me know! I leave for work tomorrow morning for 2 weeks, and i want to get this done before i leave. thanks.

also make sure that the BLACK/ white wire is grounded also, if it is not grounded, it will not let the remote start start the vehicle!!

How do you know it has a BLACK/ white wire when he didnt state what kinda remote start is it? The DEI units have that wire but if he is flashing the hoodpin than it could be something made by a company like automobility in which case there is not BLACK/ white wire. So this brings up the previously asked question, What kinda Remote Start is it?
