i recently did keyless entry on a jetta with out power windows. it was the first jetta i've added keyless too, and today it's back with a few problems. 1- the owner says that the drivers door doesn't lock no matter what. i found this true, except when use physically put the key in the door, however it doesn't lock with the factory or aftermarket remote. 2-doors wont unlock when the car is running with the key in the ign. i found this to be true for the factory switch on the door or the factory remote, but you can unlock the doors with the aftermarket remote. 3-she also said that her interrior lights don't come on when she turns the car off or opens the doors. that wsa just the dome light switch in the wrong position. 4-she also said that sometimes when she uses the aftermarket remote her interior lights and hazard lights flash, but no alarm sounds.

when i hooked the door lock wires up i used the yellow/blue for lock, and YELLOW /GREEN for unlock and programed the keyless entry for a doublepulse on unlock. both wires are found a the comfort module under the drivers dash. the lock only worked with the drivers door shut, but it worked when it left. the only strange thing was that when it was here the first time, the lock button in the door would not go down into the door all they way, just about half way.

any ideas, or suggestions?

Sounds like all those problems are probably a faulty drivers door lock assy.  They go bad ALL the time.

thats funny, because i was playing with the latch, and found that if i push it back the full two clicks manually with the door open, the locks work fine. it thinks the door is closed. i called on a replacement part for the lock motor, and the dealership said they keep them in stock because they go through so many of them. right now it works intermitenly, hopefully she will understand.

Also check to make sure the "door" itself is adjusted properly....maybe the car was wrecked?

Do you have a "check list" you go over when the car comes in?

i also have astro chart, although i don't install their starters, because it's one of the top shelf tech programs out there. they did their install on a jetta with power windows where you can only find the lock wires in the rf module inside the doors. in the models w/o power windows you can locate the wires in the comfort module under the drivers dash that also controls many other functions such as trunk pop. those wires are the colors i listed above, negative pulse, double for unlock all doors.

by the way- did you know, astro flex starters use the same door lock system as bulldog? intresting.

soundmasta, did you use relays? on most VW's the ground pulse from an alarm isn't enough to trigger the locks.

well, i did the initial install a few weeks ago, so i can't remember exactally, but ido know that if the - pulse from the module wasn't triggering the lock or unlock every time i would've wired relays. i know that's common on many vehicles, and by habit i usually do use relays, but i can't say for sure on this one. doesn't it seem that if the - pulse wasn't strong enough it would work somtimes and not others? in this case it only worked consistently when the door latch was closed all the way, and for some reason, probably a bad part in the door, it wouldn't always latch completely when you shut the door. the owner is taking it to the dealer now to have the part replaced anyway.
