I have a 98 Isuzu Rodeo with a Clarion Headunit. Whenever I push on the gas, I'll hear a whining sound in the speakers that increases with RPMs. This only happens if the unit is on and unmuted. This just recently started up. Any ideas? I'm stumped

Bad ground.  If it was fine before and then suddenly appeared, something either changed or broke.  Check your ground for any amps, run a new ground for the head unit (do not use the factory ground in the wiring harness) and check your engine ground strap.  Also clean your battery terminals. You might also need new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, etc.

do you have an amplifier? does it come out of both right and left sides? where did you ground the head unit? check to make sure you don't have any grounded out speaker wires. check battery ground, engine ground, terminals, etc.. if you hear a popping noise through your speakers, you may need new spark plug wires, but that's not likely since your car is not really that old.

car audio pays my bills...
